Joseph “Joe” Howard Kay, passed away on May 18, 2018, in Fremont County. He was born Feb. 14, 1973, in Leadville to Chuck and Georgia (Lamphier) Kay.
Joe grew up in Buena Vista and graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1991. He spent his life in Buena Vista where he loved to camp, fish, drive around in the hills, watch his sons play baseball and ride dirt bikes. He also loved to cook and spent many years cooking in numerous restaurants.
In 1993, he met Rachel Oversole who would later become his wife. They spent many years together and had two sons, Ryan and Tyler. Joe was a great man who would do anything for anyone. His pride and joy was his sons.
He is survived by his sons Ryan and Tyler and former wife Rachel Kay, all of Buena Vista; father Chuck Kay of Buena Vista; mother Georgia Kay of Fountain; sister Malisa (Darrell) Willis of Fountain and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will also be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the VFW in Buena Vista.
