Donald R. Anderson of Nathrop lost his battle with lymphoma and transitioned to heaven on Nov. 16, 2017.
He was born on Oct.19, 1937 in El Paso, Texas to Walter and Edna (Ahr) Anderson. He moved to Denver in 1970. In 1970, he married Sarajane Sloan and gained two stepsons and a special grandson, Scott Sloan, from that union.
In 2004, he married Olive Dotson and gained three stepchildren: Rochelle (John) Parsons, Chris Dotson and Kathy (Jim) Newman; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren from that union.
Don spent his early years as a stationary engineer working overseas with private contractors in the Marshall Islands and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba plus 2 years in the Army. He retired from Safeway Warehouse in Denver, was an avid fisherman and hunter, an active member of Escapees RV Club, member of the Elks Lodge and a past member of the Masons.
He is survived by his wife Olive of Nathrop; brother Roy (Cathy) Anderson of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in late May at Chateau Chaparral in Nathrop. Friends and family who desire may make memorial contributions in Don’s honor to a charity of their choice.
