Alma Mae (Babe) Williams of Buena Vista passed away in Las Vegas, Nev. on Friday, Feb. 16, 2018. Babe was born to William and Emma Bertschy on April 26, 1931, in Buena Vista.
Married to William (Bill) Williams on July 15, 1949, in Fort Collins, Babe spent much of her time working alongside her husband and caring for their eight children. Everyone in town knew where the Williams’ home was located as it was always open to anyone who wanted to come by and visit. Babe was sure to have coffee on for the town police who would often stop in for some.
She also served in the VFW women’s auxiliary. As one of her grandchildren stated, “…Alma ‘Babe’ Williams was a caring, loving, adventurous mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. The family tree of which she helped create, nurture and develop is far reaching and her impacts too significant to count”. Babe has her fingerprints all over the Buena Vista area which, besides her family, will be her legacy.
Babe was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her children, Pam Warren of Fort Collins; Penny Plumley of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Patty Thorne (Robert) of Las Vegas; Priscilla More of Colorado Springs; Roger Williams (Cheri) of Buena Vista; Peggy Miller (Ken) of Laurel, Mont.; Paula Williams of Colorado Springs; Peige Visser (Dirk) of Littleton; her sister Edith (Bertschy) Lewallen of Winona, Kan.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on June 23 at the Williams’ home in Buena Vista.
