Julie Kersting

Julie Kersting of Pinon Real Estate - Buena Vista was recently featured in Top Agent Magazine, a national trade publication in the real estate industry.

Born and raised in Buena Vista, Kersting started Pinon in 2005 as a boutique firm that she says prides itself on helping clients after closing with the little things that integrate them into a community.

“A lot of people are relocating here from bigger cities or across the country. It’s much bigger than finding a house, it’s finding a home,” Kersting said. “I love being that resource for people.”

Whether it’s recommending a plumber, giving a new homeowner a place to send a fax or having open seats at the BV Strong Community Dinner, Kersting hopes Pinon, which moved into it’s current space on Main Street in 2016, can be there for new members of the community in that way.

Many of the clients Kersting meets first found Buena Vista when they were younger, going on camping trips.

“I remember those sweet days in the ‘70s when it was so quiet,” she said. “It makes a big difference if you can connect with someone and build a connection.”

It’s the reason why at times 80 percent of Pinon’s clients have been referrals, she said.

“We’ve always been a boutique real estate company, small by design” Kersting said. “We focus on relationships, not numbers.”

Part of forging those connections to community is Pinon’s charitable giving to groups around Buena Vista at every closing.

“How can we give back? How can we donate our time but also give back financially?” Kersting said.

All of this is important, Kersting said, because in a small town, the clients she works with to close on a house will end up being neighbors for years to come.

“You do see these people at the grocery store, and you want them to come up to you and say ‘It’s everything you said it would be, only better.’”
