The Chaffee County Sheriff's Office said the body of a juvenile male had been recovered from the Arkansas River near the Big Drop rapid area about 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 11.

The sheriff's office said in a press release the identity has not been confirmed as that  of the missing child from the rafting accident Wednesday in Browns Canyon. Final identification will be conducted by the Chaffee County Coroner’s Office.

Agencies assisting in the search include the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, Chaffee County EMS, Chaffee County Search and Rescue-North, Chaffee County Search and Rescue-South, Search and Rescue Dogs of Colorado, Flight for Life, Colorado Parks and Wildlife-Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area, Colorado Springs Fire Department and the Bureau of Land Management.
