The Buena Vista High School cross country teams competed at the Salida Cross Country Classic Sept. 28.

The Lady Demons finished eighth with Mallory Salazar crossing the tape No. 11 among all runners in 21 minutes, 49 seconds.

The Demons also finished eighth and Rosston Sherlock was the No. 11 runner with a time of 18:37.

The other girls scoring for the Lady Demons were Molly McMurry, 23rd, in 22:48; Alexis Santopietro, 36th, in 23:52; Aja Hogan, 52nd, in 25:51; and Scout McMurry, 62nd, in 27:57.

For the boys the other four to score were Jack Helmke, 40th, in 20:33; Isarael McDowell, 41st, in 20:41; Issac Hutchings, 45th, in 21:03; and Aaron White, 59th, in 22:49.

“It was a great day to run in Salida with awesome weather,” said coach Julia Fuller. “It was a deep and competitive field with 5A to 2A schools.

“The team is looking to their competition season ahead with league, regionals and then state.”

Buena Vista will compete in the Tri-Peaks League meet at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs Friday, Oct. 4. The girls run at 3 p.m. and boys race begins at 3:40 p.m.
