Highway 50 was closed for about 9 to 10 hours on the night of Saturday the 10th when a semi truck lost control due to overheated brakes and rolled onto its side, Colorado State Patrol Sergeant Marshall Schwarz.

The crash occurred near Garfield at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday. The truck was eastbound, rolled on its right side , slid, struck a guardrail, struck the guardrail and slid some more as it rotated and struck the guardrail again.

The driver, Devonte Bryant of Fayetteville, Ga., suffered minor injuries during the crash. He was cited for careless driving, Schwarz said.

The truck was "loaded with corn," Schwarz said.

Chaffee County residents were all ears when Scott Pelino of Pelino Excavation posted on Facebook that he had a pile of Olathe Sweet Corn from the accident that he was giving away for free.
