Pyra Intihar makes a number of salient points in favor of retaining the mascot name, and some against.

She also points out the distinction between diabolos (devil or Satan) and diamon, sometimes translated devils, and perhaps better, demons.  That distinction hardly matters for our purposes in that demons are Satan’s minions.

On the practical side, I refuse to wear or display anything identified with either Satan or demons, unless they are clearly denounced (being defeated as a result of Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection from the dead, so that the Father has accepted His sacrifice Isaiah 53:6, Acts 53:6.

So, I believe, sales of mascot items probably suffers.
