Eddie Elmer Gallegos of Buena Vista passed away at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He met his wife Elsie in 1961 while he was working at the Climax Mine in Leadville. They were married May 18, 1962.
Eddie worked mostly in the mining industry moving from Montrose, Basalt, Fairplay, Breckenridge and Alma to name a few. He also helped build the Eisenhower Tunnel.
In 1986 he moved to Buena Vista which became his home for the last 33 years. Fishing, prospecting, family, camping, painting, antique collecting and making things were some of his favorite hobbies. He is survived by his wife-Elsie Gallegos of Buena Vista; son Abner Gallegos and Reese Lummas of Buena Vista, son Adam and Cindy Gallegos of Denver, son Travis and Melanie Gallegos of Alma and son Napoleon Gallegos and Nicole Herlee of Buena Vista; grandchildren Carsyn, Ravyn, Damon, Sedna, Zane, Tatum, Vayda and Kyuss.
A celebration of life is set for Saturday, Jan. 4, 12 p.m. at the Stone Church in Alma.
