Edith Garrett, 89, former benefits coordinator at Climax Mines, volunteer at New Bees.
Edith Garrett, long time resident of Buena Vista, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Columbine Manor Care Center Sept. 12, 2012.
Edith was born to Enrico and Angelina Zampedri on July 22, 1923, in Superior, Wyo. She attended school and graduated in Superior as well. She then worked as a weight master for the coal mines during WWII with her childhood best friend Sylvia Mullens.
After the war on Nov. 23, 1946 she married DC Garrett. They moved to the Upper Arkansas Valley in 1955 where she worked at the Climax Mine as benefits coordinator, then retired in 1980.
After retirement she enjoyed her volunteer time at the Free Store and New Bees with her close friend Francie Roe. One of her favorite pastimes was taking care of her home and yard, and spending time with her good friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband DC Garrett, brothers and sisters as well as some others listed below.
Her sister Emma Magagna and family Violet and Ernie Samietz from San Mateo, Calif., Arthur and Marge Magagna from San Jose, Calif. and their families.
Brother Jo and Marie Zampedri and family Rudy & Ellen Zampedri, from Ft. Bridger, Wyo. and their family.
Brother George and Hazel Zampedri and family Robert & Betty Zampedri of Rock Springs, Wyo. and their family.
Brother Rico and Bertha Zampedri and family Ray & Frances Zampedri of Rock Springs, Wyo., Carol Carlson, Paula & Joe Bertagnolli of Texas, Gary & Trish Zampedri of Buena Vista, and their families.
Brother Tauni and Paula Zampedri and family Larry and Machelle Zampedri, from Saratoga, Wyo. and their family.
She is survived by son David Garrett of Buena Vista, granddaughter April Garrett, great grandchildren Brooke, Cody and Andrew all of Madison, Ala. and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Because of Edith’s request, there will not be any services. Private cremation was held. However any correspondence can be sent to her son David at P.O. Box 1261, Buena Vista, 81211.
