Curtis Richardson, 83, firefighter was an extremely selfless man, loved by all who were lucky enough to meet him.
Curtis Hugh Richardson, of Fort Myers, Fla., died peacefully at his home Sept. 10.
He was born April 21, 1929, in Macon County, Ill.
Curt was the son of Blueford and Dorothy Richardson.
His death was preceded by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Richardson, and sister Shirley June Collins.
He is survived by his brother, Lloyd (Betty Ann) Richardson, sisters Betty Lou (Bob) Swords, and Sharon Richardson; three children: Nancy (Richardson) Dwyer, Roy Richardson and Dianne Richardson. His eleven grandchildren are: Brian Dooley (Patrice); Bridget Crowley (Marc); Lucretia Silcox (Christopher); Cavan, Marcienne, and Meave Dwyer; Keith, Monica, Jenna, and Karra Richardson; Carrie (DeMent) Calhoun. His 12 great-grandchildren are Aidan, Tristen, and Grace Dooley; Phelim and Shamus Crowley; Inness, Colm, Bridie, and Meave Silcox; Tyler Richardson; Bradley and Kaleigh Calhoun.
Curt was a dual resident of Ft. Myers and Buena Vista.
Curt lived in the community of Myerlee for 30 years. The card players and fellow golfers will be saddened by his passing. He was an extremely selfless man, loved by all who were lucky enough to meet him.
Words cannot express how deeply he will be missed by his entire family. They feel very fortunate to have had Curt in their lives and look forward to when they meet again. Curt was a retired Captain of the Decatur, Ill., Fire Department. A fund has been established for the benefit of families of fallen firemen in Decatur, Ill.
