THE RIVER CITY NOMADS: FEATURED POETS AT POETRY LIVE @ THE PAQUETTE, SteamPlant Event Center, 220 W. Sackett Ave. in Salida, Nov. 17, 7 p.m. Blending pathos and humor with theatrical flourishes in five distinct voices, this Nomadic poetry troupe presents performances that are powerful, poignant, and often hilarious. Local Poet Showcase will feature Jean Hanfelt of Salida. Open mike segment in a round robin format. Free and open to the public. OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA CLASS Nov. 19, 9-10 a.m. The class will be held in Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center’s second-floor conference rooms, 1000 Rush Dr., Salida. TC Rodak, a registered sleep technician, will help participants understand how to prepare for a sleep study and what happens during the study.Free and open to anyone interested. USDA FOREST SERVICE PRESCRIBED FIRE PROJECT IN CHAFFEE COUNTY PLANNED The North Trout Creek Prescribed Fire project involves burning approximately 917 acres between McGee Gulch and Shields Gulch along FR 305, 315 and 376.  Four miles east of Buena Vista.  Weather conditions will affect the dates for ignition.
