| Autumn Color Run draws more than 500 More than 500 competitors from several states showed up for the annual Autumn Color Run Sept. 19 in Buena Vista. The event, which features a 5K run, 10K run, half-marathon run and one-mile fun run, drew over 150 more runners and walkers than did last year's races.
McPhelemy Park was headquarters for the Autumn Color Run. Organizations benefiting included Starpoint and Habitat for Humanity.
Results reported by volunteer race director Tom Liverman are:
5K mechanical division - 1st place, Tiffany Confer, 16.24.3.
5K men's - 1st, Adam Rich, 14.40.8; 2nd, Andy Rinne, 15.56.7; 3rd, Lile Budden, 17.34.1.
5K women's - 1st, Georgia Steenberg. 21.01.5; 2nd, Jessica Ryan, 21.37.5; 3rd, Jen Cuneio, 23.07.7.
10K men's - 1st, David Higgins, 39.43; 2nd, Todd Murray, 41.08; 3rd, Sedge Southworth, 43.53.
10K women's - 1st, Kair-Anne Samuelson, 44.29; 2nd, Liberty Poremba, 51.16; 3rd, Kirsten Wulfsberg, 55.13.
Half-marathon men's - 1st, Saul Aguilar, 1.20.50; 2nd, Greg Decent, 1.22.22; 3rd, Jim Coulson, 1.22.25.
Half-marathon women's - 1st, Lynette Clemmens, 1.30.14; 2nd, Laura Wheatly, 1.31.34; 3rd, Cathi Webber, 1.33.53.
Total registered was 559 with 27 no-shows, Liverman said. Participants included one-mile fun run, 24; 5K, 158 with 7 no-shows; 10K, 113 with 8 no-shows; and half-marathon, 275 with 13 no-shows.
States represented in addition to Colorado were Tennessee, California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Michigan, Virginia, Missouri, Alabama, Connecticut, Illinois, Florida, Washington, Indiana, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Kansas and Texas.
