The Lady Demons swept two volleyball matches 3-0 in the past week including a big win over Chaffee County rival Salida.
Buena Vista traveled to Florence Sept. 10 and won 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15.
In front of a packed house at Dorthea Willie P.E. Complex Sept. 12, they handled the visiting Spartans 25-11, 25-18 and 25-18.
“Maggie Wagner had an amazing game versus Florence,” said coach Jamie Page. “She led the team in kills and had only one error on the night.”
The rivalry night started with recognition of the seven seniors and their parents.
The raucous student section followed with their all out support of the Lady Demons.
The students created an atmosphere for success and the girls produced, immediately dashing the hopes of the Lady Spartans.
The first game win was the most convincing of the three. From that point forward the team answered every short lived Salida run with an impressive one of their own.
“We had great overall play by everyone and the girls played hard,” said Page. “Tanner Richmond served extremely well and there was a lot of energy from the crowd.”
The team is now 3-3 for the season and 3-0 in Tri-Peaks League action. Buena Vista is now 29 in the Class 3A RPI rankings.
