BV tree removal upsets local residents
The removal of several trees to make way for Buena Vista’s street paving project has upset several residents, who have protested to town officials about the cuttings.
Town Councilman Davis met with members of BV Heritage to explain the removal of some 73-year-old willows from in front of the old courthouse building now occupied by the Heritage Museum.
Suzy Kelly, a local businesswoman who is a member of the Heritage group, said that she had contacted an attorney last week about the possibility of obtaining a court order to bar the cutting of the remaining trees in front of the courthouse after learning that one had already been felled.
“What I don’t understand is why do we need such side streets for such a small town?” Kelly asked. “I don’t think they know what they’re doing.”
