More equestrian activities, focusing on both finesse and power, are being brought into Battlemoor.

Battlemoor is a 6-day event hosted by the Kingdom of the Outlands, one of the 20 Kingdoms of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an international 501c3 non-profit volunteer educational organization devoted to the research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture.

Members employ that knowledge to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations and other educational presentations and activities.

Battlemoor began in 2009 on the Stroh Ranch, north of Walsenburg. It is in its third year at the Meadows in Buena Vista.

At this event, members strive to recapture the ambiance of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

The Society for Creative Anachronism began with a small backyard tournament in Berkeley in 1966. It was incorporated as a 501c3 in California in 1968 and has grown steadily to a current membership of approximately 26,000 paid members worldwide, with an estimated figure of perhaps double that number who participate without formal membership.

Visitors are welcome for scheduled tours guided by knowledgeable members at 11 a.m., and 1 p.m., Thursday, July 10 through Saturday July 13. Please contact Elieth Salazar ( if you have any additional questions.
