Buena Vista runners dominated the Spirit Trail run early Sunday morning of CKS PaddleFest on their home turf in Midland Hill.

Out of a field of 27 entrants in the Half Marathon, BV’s Jared Oubre, 33, placed first with a finishing time of 1 hour, 43 minutes: an average 7:52 mile. Oubre was trailed by fellow Buena Vistan Jason Maher, 36, with a time of 1:50.

Finishing fourth overall, the top female finisher was Shannon Jones, 27, of Buena Vista with a time of 1:51.

Golden resident Adam Odoski finished third in the race with a time of 1:51, ahead of Jones by just 16 seconds.

Boulder’s Adam Chapman finished fifth with a time of 1:51.49.

Among female finishers, 19-year-old Katie Fankhouser of Lyons came in second – eighth overall – with a time of 1:56 and Fort Collins resident Anna Wickersham, 39, came in third – 11th overall – with a time of 2:04.

Fankhouser was the youngest runner in the half marathon field.

In the 8K race Sunday, Carbondale’s Joseph DeMoor, 28, took first with a time of 30:28, followed by BV’s Chandler Morehardt, 28, at 35:12 and Andrew Cornwell, 32, of Fairplay at 39:40.

The top female finisher in the 8K was Buena Vista resident Candace Bryans, 36, who finished fifth overall with a time of 46:02.
