McGinnis Middle School kicked off its BV Cares week with an assembly honoring area veterans on Monday.

MMS principal John Emilsson got a little choked up as he explained to the attentive crowd of middle schoolers the significance of the day and the importance of paying respect to those who fought in wars from World War I, the “war to end all wars,” through to the present-day conflicts in which the United States has been involved for longer than the students, and even their high school peers, have been alive.

After screening a short film, veterans gathered in front of the student body with their relatives at MMS and received a heartfelt round of applause from the crowd.
