The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County has announced the League will host a public event for Buena Vista school board candidates from 6-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Buena Vista Community Center, 715 E. Main St.
School board candidates are Stacy Moss and Nathaniel Weeks for District A, Nancy Best and Jessica Crites for at large–2 years, and Brett Mitchell and Tracy Storms for two at large–4 years seats. Suzette Hachmann is unopposed for District C. Storms is an at large–4 years incumbent. Best currently serves as District C representative.
All of these candidates have committed to participate.
Buena Vista school district voters vote for candidates from each district as well as at large candidates.
The LWVCC will conduct another Candi-Dating event. After each candidate has the opportunity to make 2-minute opening remarks, the process will essentially follow a speed-dating model.
This is the same model successfully used in 2016 and 2018 for Chaffee County Commissioners and HD 60 candidates in Buena Vista and Salida as well as Buena Vista town government in March 2018.

The LWVCC’s mission for the past 15 years has been to provide opportunities for local citizens to hear candidates running for office and learn about ballot issues.”
The LWVCC does not support or oppose candidates or political parties. It is a local community organization open to all persons 18 years of age and older. For information, visit lwvchafeecounty.org.
