Poetry Live @ the Paquette will feature Colorado poet Juan Morales at 7 p.m., Sunday, March 17.

Born in the United States to an Ecuadorian mother and a Puerto Rican father, Morales is the Department Chair of English and World Languages at CSU-Pueblo, and the editor/publisher of “Pilgrimage Press.”

His poems have been published in a variety of literary journals, and he is the author of four poetry collections, including “The Siren World” and, most recently, “The Handyman’s Guide to End Times.”

There will be a local poet showcase, as well as an open mike segment with signups starting at 6:45 p.m. Open mic participants are asked to bring several poems to read in a round robin format.

The Paquette Gallery is located in the SteamPlant Event Center at 220 W. Sackett Avenue in Salida.

The event is free, with donations accepted. Donations are used exclusively to pay expenses for the production of spoken word events produced by The Poetry Consorts of Central Colorado.

More information is available from the SteamPlant at 530-0933 or Barbara Ford at 539-2626.
