Buena Vista’s Fourth of July celebration is jam-packed with events throughout the day, centered around a parade down Main Street beginning at 10 a.m.
Afterwards, head to McPhelemy Park for a performance by the Buena Vista Circus.
Independence Day morning, the Buena Vista Optimists will host its annual pancake breakfast in Columbine Park at 7 a.m., including flapjacks, sausages and a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Splash Pad on the corner of East Main and Railroad Street, the Independence Day Freedom 5K loops through downtown Buena Vista and follows the Arkansas River.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers.
Anyone who enters the 5K will be entered into a raffle held with the awards ceremony at 9:30 a.m.
Also that morning, Grace Church will hold a patriotic concert at 9 a.m. and again at 1 p.m.
The church will be displaying the Quilts of Valor sewn for local veterans all day.
After taking last year off amid a fire ban and extremely dry weather, the American Legion is planning a fireworks show at the rodeo grounds beginning at 9.
The American Legion is currently raising funds for the show, as well as using the money and materials that went unused in 2018.
