Riding trails

The Buena Vista Singletrack Coalition will celebrate the official dedication of three new trails added this year at the upper CR 304 Midland trailhead at 4 p.m., Nov. 6.

The 2019 trails season is winding down as snow and cold move in to the valley.

The year has been a flurry of activity for Buena Vista Singletrack Coalition with three brand new trails built, new trailheads established on the Vitamin B trail, many volunteer hours of restoration work completed, maintenance of existing trails and seasonal closure gates installed on Vitamin B and Unchained.

BVSC is celebrating the incredible season by holding the third Bikes. Boots. Beer. Social at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Eddyline South Main.

Everyone is welcome to join us as we review the action-packed summer, preview the upcoming season and provide information on how YOUR skills can help BVSC.

Of course, socializing with trails enthusiasts, whether hikers, bikers or runners is a big part of the evening and Eddyline will be extending happy hour pricing.

Prior to the social event, the public is also invited to join BVSC for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally open the new trails as a part of the local singletrack system.

Meet at the upper CR 304 Midland trailhead at 4 p.m., to help us recognize our many incredible partners including the town of Buena Vista, Colorado Mountain Club, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, Southwest Conservation Corps, Royal Gorge Field Office-BLM, Salida Ranger District USFS and all of our amazing community volunteers.

BVSC couldn’t function without the amazing support of our 1% for Trails businesses – Eddyline Brewery, Eddyline Restaurant South Main, The Trailhead, Boneshaker Cycles and Louie’s Ice Cream Shoppe. A huge thanks goes out to them for everything they do.

If you have wondered what BVSC is and who it is for, our Mission Statement says, “Buena Vista Singletrack Coalition is a non-profit trail advocacy organization committed to collaborating with agencies, businesses and locals in order to build, maintain and steward sustainable trails for muscle-powered users. We promote responsible recreational trail use in the greater Buena Vista area.”

Muscle-powered users means non-motorized users of all kinds – hikers, bikers, runners and equestrians.

Singletrack means a trail wide enough for one critter, to travel single file if in a group, whether the critter is a human on foot, bike or horse.
