@ 6:30 pm David Woodruff, 58, of Coconut Creek, FL was driving a Harley Davidson seven miles east of Cotopaxi on CO 50 when the vehicle struck a large rock in the road. The vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder of the road. Both driver and passenger were ejected and sustained moderate injuries. They were transported to the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
@ 10:40 pm Nathan Nelson, 25, of Salida was driving a Ford F150 pickup eastbound on CO 50 two miles west of Poncha Springs when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve to the left. The vehicle slid off the left side of the road, down an embankment and rolled ¼ times onto its right side. The vehicle continued to slide and rolled back ¼ time onto its wheels. No injury was reported. Nelson was cited with Drove vehicle improperly on a mountain highway.
@ 7:18 am David L. Obregon, 28, of Fairplay was contacted on Trout Creek Pass for a traffic violation. Obregon was arrested and transported to the Chaffee County Jail and held on $10,000 bond. Obregon was charged with Failed to display lamps when required, Drove motor vehicle when license under restrain /Expressed Consent, and Made false report to authorities.
@ 11:10 am Todd Mayer, 41, of Littleton was driving a Toyota Rav 4 southbound on CO 285 five miles north of Poncha Springs. The vehicle struck a deer. The deer slid off the right side of the road. Mayer drove to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the road.
@ 5:42 pm William Lewis, 49, of Talladega, AL was contacted on CO 24 one mile south of Buena Vista for a traffic violation. Lewis was arrested and transported to the Chaffee County Jail and held on $1500 bond. Lewis was charged with Drove vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, Drove vehicle with excessive alcohol content of 0.08 or more, and Failed to drive in a single lane.
@ 8:30 pm John Martinez, 65, of Clifton was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser westbound on CO 50 one mile east of Salida when his vehicle struck a deer. The deer came to rest off the right side of the road. Martinez drove to a controlled stop.
