A woman who died of a gunshot wound at the Adobe Village apartment complex on Sept. 19 has been identified as 41-year-old Fairplay resident Margaret Solmon.
The case remains under investigation, according to Chaffee County Coroner Randy Amettis, who released Solmon's identity on Friday.
According to Buena Vista Police Chief Jimmy Tidwell, law enforcement received a call from dispatch about a possible gunshot at Adobe Village on Thursday afternoon.
Police arrived on scene and “found a female behind the wheel of a vehicle who was deceased from a gunshot wound,” Tidwell said.
Tidwell also reported that a gun was recovered in the vehicle. He declined to comment further until the investigation is complete.
The Buena Vista Police Department, the Chaffee County Coroner and district attorney investigator Alex Walker were among responders at the scene.
