Walden Chamber Music Society is proud to announce its first Helping Hand Grant. The recipient is Longfellow Elementary School in Salida which will be able to send four young choristers to Colorado Allstate Elementary Choir.

Walden established this grant this year in the hopes of furthering music education in Chaffee County schools. Each music teacher was sent an introductory letter explaining the program as well as an application form. The $300 grant will cover any music related need that is not covered by the school’s music budget. This includes fees, equipment replacement, rentals, contests and the unexpected item that always crops up.

Longfellow’s Jennifer Gianjiulio is using part of her grant to send Salida to Allstate Choir for the first time. The four fourth graders went through a series of auditions to earn the trip to Colorado Springs. We wish them luck.
